Dr. Mark Melevsky was born just a few miles from Marshfield in Plymouth, Massachusetts. He completed his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and then served in the U.S. Navy where he completed his residency. He further advanced his education by meeting the stringent requirements of the Academy of General Dentistry and was accepted as a Fellow of this organization. Dr. Melevsky and his wife enjoy outdoor sports, including fishing and skiing, and also enjoy Boston’s wealth of professional sports teams.
In addition to his other specialized training, Dr. Melevsky has received additional education in providing dental treatment to Marshfield children of all ages. It takes a special touch to introduce children to dentistry while keeping them comfortable. We are pleased to help you introduce your children to our friendly and caring atmosphere and knowledgeable staff. We’ll help you get them started right for a lifetime of proper care and healthy teeth by making their first visits gentle and welcoming.
Yes, we can help you make your smile beautiful again! Dental technology has advanced so far in the last decade that there are many ways we can improve your smile. If your teeth have dulled because of age or drinking dark beverages like cola or coffee, we offer Zoom! teeth whitening to restore their youthful brightness.
If you break, crack or fracture a tooth, please contact us right away. Your tooth might just need a little dental bonding to strengthen and protect it, or we can provide you with a dental veneer or a clean, white crown to repair severe damage.
Did you know that with proper preventative dentistry, you can avoid many painful and expensive problems with your teeth? We take pride in educating our patients on the at-home and in-office care that prevents so many of these problems. Every person visiting a Marshfield dentist deserves this education and support. We are happy to help. If it has been years since your last visit to a dentist, please do not be concerned. We only want to help you finally achieve good dental and oral health that lasts.
If age or dark-colored drinks have dimmed the youthful brightness of a smile, we can reverse that damage with in-office or at-home teeth whitening. In our office, our whitening treatment can lighten a smile eight shades in a single hour. For those who travel frequently or want a more gradual whitening process, we offer customized, at-home whitening trays. Both are professional-grade systems that get excellent results.
Preventative care on a regular schedule is the key to preventing big dental problems. We try to help every patient stay on a schedule of preventative care, including regular cleanings and dental exams, so we can detect and treat small problems before they can become suddenly painful ones. As a provider of family dental services in Marshfield, MA, Dr. Melevsky is interested in preventing dental problems before they start.
For our patients who have lost one or more teeth, we often recommend dental implants, the closest match to your own natural teeth. First, a slender titanium post will be placed in your jaw bone. When your own bone has bonded with this post, a durable white tooth (a crown) will be anchored to it. The resulting tooth will look and feel just like your natural teeth. Dr. Melevsky has pursued additional training to maintain an excellent standard of care while offering this dental service for Marshfield, MA patients.
Both crowns and bridges play important roles in protecting the integrity of your smile. A crown covers a tooth that has suffered some damage, such as an infected tooth which required root canal therapy. That tooth can remain strong for many years when protected by a crown. A bridge is made up of crowns which go on the two teeth adjacent to the missing one. Then an artificial tooth positioned between the two crowns replaces the missing tooth and restores a patient’s smile.
At one time, it was almost routine for teens to suffer with metal wires and painful brackets to straighten their teeth. We are very pleased to offer Invisalign clear acrylic aligners to correct tooth alignment without the hardware. Then, careful measurements and impression molds are taken and sent to a dental laboratory, where your bridge is custom-made (we’ll make you a temporary bridge to wear until your permanent bridge is ready). At your second appointment, the permanent bridge will be carefully checked, adjusted, and cemented in place. Occasionally, a third appointment is needed if you and your friendly, neighborhood dentist-near-me decide to only temporarily cement the bridge; sometimes, it’s best to let your gums and other teeth get used to having the bridge there. The full cementing process can be done at a later date. Among the instances in which a bridge will be recommended: maintaining facial shape, preventing remaining teeth from drifting out of position, restoring chewing and/or speaking ability, restoring your smile, upgrading from a removable partial denture to a permanent solution.
We are also able to provide patients with dentures attached to and secured by four or more dental implants. By placing the implants first and letting them bond to the bone in the jaw, dentures can be snugly anchored to the tops of the implants, preventing them from moving. If you are seeking a dentist in Marshfield, MA to provide implant-supported dentures with care and a gentle touch, you have found him. At your last appointment, we will precisely adjust and place the completed denture. Among the benefits of dentures—aside from the obvious plus of filling gaps in your mouth—is the improving of chewing, speech, and digestion, as well as the enhancing of your smile and facial tissues.
